[PORTABLE APP]: Adavantages: No Installations, no dependencies, no Issues, just Click N' Play :) This game version is 100% portable, the game is partially virtualized on a pseudo "sandbox" like environment, so there is no system files dependencies.

This game / app contains no viruses, trojans or any kind of malware whatsoever, if you have an active antivirus or an antimalware software that is flagging / blocking this game, I can guarantee you that it's a 100% false positive (most likely it's dgVoodoo fault because of how it handles the dll injection or the portable app container itself). to fix this just add this game to the exeption list of your antivírus or just disable your antivírus.

Update 2.7.1: 1 - SECURITY: removed most of the false positives, now your antivirus/antimalware will not freakout. keep in mind that this app is not digitally signed through the CA (Certificate Authority) so you might be presented with a safe warning about an application from an "unknown publisher" just ignore it. PROBLEMS / BUGS / ISSUES / FIXES / SOLUTIONS

- PROBLEM 1 (No BGM Music/Audio)

Game plays without Music/Audio in some menus and in game

- The finding: It seems that the game needs a real physical IDE CD-ROM drive and the original Sega Rally 2 CD2 to be able to play de BGM Audio

no drive emulation will work, not even a "nocd" crack will help to fix this issue, also, it needs to be played under windows 9x systems (Windows 95 or Windows 98).

- Fix: The game executable "SEGA RALLY 2.exe" and the MUSASHI DLL "MGAudio.dll" needs to be patched with the "_inmm.dll Setup" also you need the audio files (.wav or .mp3) inside a Music folder inside Sega Rally 2 directory.

Instructions: Create a folder named "Music" inside Sega Rally 2 directory > Download or extract the BGM Music/Audio from an original Sega Rally 2 CD2 (accepted formats: .wav and .mp3) and paste the audio files inside the "music folder you had created > Download _inmm.dll ver. 236 > Open "_inmmcnf.exe" > in "Method Tab" Select DirectShow as a Player for *.wav, *.mp3 files and also select DirectShow for default player > Select the "Patch" tab and search for "Sega Rarry 2" (yes, it's a typo) and click the patch button and confirm > Select the "tab _inmm.ini" click on add and go to the Music foder you had created and select all audio files > Click save and OK.

- PROBLEM 2 (Game crashes or closes on startup after "Empire Logo")

- The Finding: this problem only happens when the 800x600 resolotuion is selected under display settings.

- Fix: Just delete the file "VendorLogo.dll" under the game's directory. (on future updates I will try to add the logo again)

- PROBLEM 3 (Crash on resume in paused menu):

After patching the original files "SEGA RALLY 2.exe" and "MGAudio.dll" using _inmm.dll Ver. 2.3.8.0 (as seen on youtube tutorials :( )

the game crashes when select "Continue" in paused menu (in game > pause the game using [Enter] > Select "Continue" or hit [ESC] = Game crashes)

- The finding: The game works ok with no administrator mode or no compatibility mode, no crashes on resume in paused menu but also without music as well :(, but if you delete the file "_inmm.dll" the game worked fine, so the problem was with the _inmm patching thing...

- Fix: Patch the game with older version of _inmm.dll Ver. 2.3.6 and problem fix, turns out the versions of "_inmm.dll Ver. 2.3.8.0" and "_inmm.dll Ver. 2.3.7.0" are falty.

- PROBLEM 4 (Right Arrow keyboard key, doesn't work in gameplay When gamepad or Steering Wheels is conected):

If you need to play on keyboard you need to disconnect anny joystik, gamepad, Steering Wheels, etc...

not really a problem :)

NOTES:

1 - SafeDisc retail DRM does not work on Windows 10[1] and is disabled by default on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 when the KB3086255 update is installed.

2 - When running this game without Administrator elevation, activity in %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%, and %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\.

MODIFICATIONS:

1 . This game uses .bat command files to run the game executables, this is needed for starting other essential programs like "JoyToKey", "CPU Grab", dgVoodooCpl, _inmmserv.exe, _inmmcnf.exe, etc... it also contains commands to force fullscreen and force focus on the main window game app.

2 . The files "Sega Rally 2.exe, "SEGA RALLY 2 (1080 - Widescreen).BAT.exe", are .bat files converted to .exe using "Adavanced BAT To EXE Converter"

3 . The "SEGA RALLY 2 (1080 - Widescreen).exe" version is a modified "Sega Rally 2.exe" file using an HEX editor to make the game 1080p and widescreen, the full tutorial is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tANkI9S_uHY

ENHANCEMENTS:

1 . Added full support and controll to Xbox one Gamepad, PS4 Gamepad and Logitech G29, using JoyToKey to remap

2 . DirectX 9 support with better shader, tarnsparent textures and resolution with the dgVoodooCpl.exe program

3 . Added BGM Music/Audio full support using _inmm.dll fix.

4 . Added 1080p resolution and 16:9 Widescreen aspect ratio support to a modded .exe file

5 . Portable support: now you can play the portable version without anny installation, just click and play ;)

Subject: Works great on Windows/Any help for steam deck

Anyone know how to get this working on steam deck. This is the only version of the game where I can hear the music working on my windows machine. Would love it to work with my steam deck.

Subject: Runs great on Windows 10 LTSC

Played it briefly on a ThinkPad T420s (i7 2640M, NVS4200M) and it runs great so far. CDDA works out the box, and I haven't noticed any graphical glitch. Will try to hook up my Xbox 360 controller later. Again, my most sincere gratitude to the uploader for your time and effort! Stay safe!

Subject: An answer and a question about controller

Hi all! First at all, as far I cannot find a way to response a comment, I've decided to put heret he answer for ThatOneAustralian and his/her problem with textures. Open DgVoodoo software and at the first page (General) There's and option called "Rendering" and below "output API" setted up as "Best available one". Well, click on it to expand and choose one of the options until you find one of they working for you.

Solved this problem, now I will comment mine...

The game works perfect, no problem with this. my problem is; I've been playing for long time with a steering wheel Logitech G27 without any kind of issues but, recently I0ve changed it by an Thrustmaster T300rs GT wich I use together the G27 with an USB adaptor. The problem is, when I have both connected, the steering wheel works weird turning left/right very abruptly, but, if I disconnect the shifter, it works perfect turning smoothly... Any idea or fix? Thank you very much for the possible help and for the work to make possible to play this fantastic game that marked my childhood.

game launches and runs fine, but nothing has a texture, its all just whites and greys which makes the game very hard to enjoy

Имею такую же проблему как у bigmac83, в предыдущих комментариях:
"логотип sgea и заголовки опций представляют собой просто белые блоки, выбран верхний вариант, автомобили просто полностью выкрашены, за исключением колес, когда игра начинается на заднем плане, и автомобиль обведен, но полностью белый"

Это происходит когда игра запускается на amd gcn видеокарте, а в настройках враппера dgvoodoo выбран наилучший режим рендера. Нужно или полностью отключить враппер, в настройках лаунчера (при этом будут небольшие глюки, в виде отсутствия экрана game over например).
Или, что будет более правильным, обновить dgvoodoo, выбрав при этом в настройках рендера dx12 (feature level 11). Так как автор забил на поддержку хуй, сделать это можно самостоятельно.
Нужно через лаунчер открыть пользовательскую временую папку с данными, найти папку с игрой, заменить dgvoodoo, и произвести его настройку через интерфейс лаунчера - только тогда настройки dgvoodoo будут успешно применены.

Автору спасибо! Но ты если уж сделал закрытую песочницу, так будь добр обновлять хотя бы враппер в ней. Или сделай ресурсы своего запускатора открытыми, а не запаковывай в экзешник.

Subject: Help

Hello, I know this thread isn't updated for a while but I try anyway...
When I launch the game a window open fast in "dos mode" and I can read that some files are missing and it shuts down.
Is it due to Windows 10 or am I missing something?
May be I have to set up the config for graphical?

If someone can help me, it would be great...

Subject: Awesome game but a slight problem

it's great to be reliving the childhood memory of this game but for some reason after a couple of time playing this game. once i open it again there's no sound and no music and i pick arcade and championship it just close off. please i would love to continue playing this awesome game.
